You can receive Bitcoin through regular (on-chain) or instant (Lightning) transactions.
If the Receive Instantly toggle is off, the QR will encode only an on-chain address. If you toggle it on, it'll contain both an on-chain address and a Lightning invoice.
Your QR Code changes every time you receive a payment because Lightning invoices can't be reused and reusing on-chain addresses affects your privacy.
Note: You must keep the Bitkit app open to receive instant payments. If you close Bitkit or switch to a different app, the sender won't be able to pay you.
Receiving to LNURL-pay codes or Lightning Addresses
Bitkit prioritizes user privacy and control, maintaining its self-custodial wallet approach. Therefore, we do not and will not support receiving Bitcoin via LNURL-pay or Lightning Address. These methods often involve a custodial risk, where the host of your Lightning address might control or misappropriate your received Bitcoin. We aim to avoid these risks to ensure you're fully in charge of your money.
Note that sending payments to LNURLs and Lightning Addresses via Bitkit is risk-free for the sender, as the recipient bears the risks. Thus, Bitkit will continue to support sending to these payment methods.
